The War Is Finally Over: NXT Moving To Tuesday!

As of April 13, NXT will be making the move to Tuesday night, thus technically ending the Wednesday night wars between themselves and AEW Dynamite.

WWE and the USA Network made the announcement on March 31st (AEDT) and also confirmed that the two had signed a multi-year extension to keep NXT on the network for the foreseeable future, confirming earlier reports by The Mat Men podcast and Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer.

The move was facilitated by NBCUniversal’s shutdown of NBC Sports Network, meaning that the USA Network would retain some of their TV rights, in this case the likely acquisition of the NHL.The larger viewership generated by hockey in essence forced the USA Network’s hand to move NXT to the Tuesday night, where WWE has a record of strong viewership.

While NXT conceded the Wednesday night to AEW, the wrestling war that commenced in late 2019 appears far from over.
