PWA Streaming Service To Close, Final Premiership Show To Air Next Monday

Although Australia has done a decent job managing the effects of the ongoing global pandemic, its effects on sports and entertainment are still significant. The latest casualty of that is OVOPlay, the current broadcast partner of Pro Wrestling Australia.

Pro Wrestling Australia on OVO - Pro Wrestling Australia

Last week, OVO sent the following e-mail to its subscribers, informing of its imminent closure:

To all our loyal fans,

We are sad to say that after 5 years of providing unique entertainment it is time to say goodbye. Unfortunately, the pandemic has taken its toll on sport and entertainment, and so without a great deal to broadcast, OVOPlay is shutting down.

Our service will cease on February 1, 2021. If you have an active subscription, we will be in touch before the end of January.

Please reach out to your favourite sport or entertainment channel to catch any updates on their streaming services in the future via their website or social media.

We would like to thank you for your loyalty over the years and hope you have enjoyed OVOPlay as much as we enjoyed bringing it to you.

All the best
The OVO Team

OVOPlay was instrumental in allowing PWA to be seen by a global audience.

The first live streamed show on OVO was Once Upon A Time In Max Watts on May 10, 2019. Headlined by Jack Bonza & Mick Moretti of the Nations vs. Slex & Damian Slater of TMDK, the show also included international imports Millie McKenzie and Session Moth Martina. OVO would go on to host all PWA live programming going forward, including Break Their Backs And Make Them Rumble and the 2019 Colosseum tournament. Although PWA are now moving onto FITE TV in February, the importance of OVOPlay in getting to this point cannot be overstated.

In order to fit in with the closure of the streaming service, PWA airs its final episode of the Premiership as a 2 hour double episode, this coming Monday on the 25th of January.

Pro Wrestling, MMA and karaoke. These things fuel me. Loved wrestling for 23 years, loved MMA for 19 years, but having Cerebral Palsy means I probably won't ever be a pro wrestler or MMA fighter. Luckily, there's always video games.
