PWA Announces Black Label Event, Major Broadcast Partnership

Yesterday on social media, Sydney-based promotion PWA teased a major announcement at 10am today. Today on social media, they delivered on that promise.

Pro Wrestling Australia announced that after a hiatus of a year- forced by the global pandemic- they would return with a Black Label event on Feb 12, 2021, at the Factory Theatre in Marrickville, Sydney. PWA Black Label is the company’s unique presentation of 18+ centred wrestling shows, a successful approach that enabled PWA to move from smaller RSL venues to Max Watts, and the Star Casino for a Progress cross-promotional show. While PWA have held shows recently, with limited attendance, they were branded Green Label- allowing those under 18 to attend.

While it is undoubtedly exciting news to have a Black Label show again- less restrictions on content, bigger venue, more fans- it wasn’t the only big news revealed. Slipping in at the end of the promo video was a graphic that read “live on FITE”.

FITE TV is the home of major promotions like AEW, NJPW and ROH, streaming their shows live to a global audience. Recently, Australian promotion PCW joined FITE, and PWA looks to follow suit on Feb 12. This means that more top-level Australian wrestling will be seen worldwide on a larger platform, which can only help the pro wrestling scene Down Under.

Pro Wrestling, MMA and karaoke. These things fuel me. Loved wrestling for 23 years, loved MMA for 19 years, but having Cerebral Palsy means I probably won't ever be a pro wrestler or MMA fighter. Luckily, there's always video games.
