Newcastle Pro Wrestling recently caused a stir in the New South Wales wrestling community, with the announcement of a big show, set to take place at the Newcastle City Hall. The event is appropriately titled Brawl At City Hall, and it takes place on Friday, March 26th.
Established in 2011, Newcastle Pro Wrestling has been referred to as the “sister” promotion of PWA, with a good deal of talent shared between the two companies. Wrestlers such as Carter Deams and Headhunter Rig are top acts for Newy Pro, and they are often joined by PWA regulars such as Jack Bonza, Adam Hoffman, Mat Diamond and Jessica Troy, among many others. A crucial difference between the two is a more family friendly presentation for the Newcastle group, with the event description noting that it will contain “mild simulated violence, and no swearing”.
The venue choice makes this a pivotal event for Newy Pro. Newcastle City Hall is a prestigious government building with a great deal of historical significance. It was opened in 1929, and is often used to host events such as concerts, stand-up comedy and weddings in addition to its civic purposes. The City Hall website indicates that it can seat up to 800 people- although in this case, that would be dependent on the configuration for a pro wrestling event.
